Shooting my 3rd Music Video: Origins

In February of 2020, I made my first music video with Jack Pennington of Green Sneakers Media. I had wanted to do a music video for a long time, and had imagined many of my songs playing out on screen in a visual form, yet the first song be explored within this medium was "Try Again."

I was a bit nervous at first for how I would get the message of this song across. I had attended some acting classes at Actors Group in Winston-Salem, which I believe helped me with transmitting the emotion of this song. I love the black and white and the origami in this video. I had a great experience working with Jack on "Try Again" and in October we did Video #2, a very different style and approach to match the energy and mood of the song "Afraid to Sleep." Shot in an abandoned farmhouse in Mount Airy, NC, this video explores the crevices of the mind of a girl who suffers from insomnia and visions of demons. After my second video shoot, I knew that this was something I wanted to keep doing. It's so fun to work with Jack, who is such a talented videographer as he works with me to create a concept for the video that is original and aligns with my vision for the song, while adding a perspective and a beauty beyond what I could achieve myself.

With this pandemic, and live shows being put on hold, I have looked for a way to still be able to perform and share my unique skill and artistry and Jack helps me to do this. I am so excited for the next shoot and what magic will unfold with my song "Origins." Origins is a song of spiritual questioning.....it's about my search for the invisible face of God and wanting to know his unspeakable name. The song expresses the need for balancing my thirst for knowledge with moments of being inundated with spiritual information. Can I be on this spiritual quest without ever reaching the "end?" Is there an end or should I be focused more on the journey of spiritual growth? I used to seek to know everything. Now I just want to BE. "Origins" is scheduled to premiere online in Spring 2021.
